Pain that turns life gray and pinched, reminds me of the fallen state.
Friends who come running to help
Eric free to abandon his work and come home
Two families of friends with whom our kids are delighted to spend the evening! Who are delighted to sacrifice and serve us.
Sunlight warming my cheek on the drive to the clinic, reminding me to be grateful...the joy of thankfulness even in pain.
Dani's experience, reminding me that it probably was a kidney stone, and not as life-threatening as it felt!
Eric's strong arms to hold me to the car, up the stairs. the couch.
A private clinic with doctors we trust.
Concerned doctors, responding quickly.
that it wasn't appendicitis (which was the first diagnosis)
Alpha-blockers right in the vein... who knew what pain relief they could give!
Quiet clinic, where the x-ray is open, and the surgeon hangs out with the x-ray techs to see what's going on.
Warm blankets, caring nurses.
amazing series of x-rays, contrast dye showing the bulging inside of the kidney, showing why it hurts so much!
All over suddenly.
The palpable absence of pain. the peace. the rest.
Sleeping in my own bed, just 12 hours after it all started.

Sounded like quite an adventure and I was glad to read of the end of your pain. Rest well!
Sorry, friend! That makes me wince just thinking about it. Glad it is in the past- and hoping and praying it will stay there!
